A tour of Denver International Airport's Main Terminal and B Terminal

KBurchfiel: "(Dec. 20, 2012) I had some time to kill at KDEN due to a delayed flight, so I decided to film a short video tour of the airport's Main Terminal and B Terminal. Wikipedia ranks KDEN as the 14th busiest airport in the world and the 5th busiest in the U.S., behind Atlanta, O'Hare, LAX and Dalles. This is one of my favorite airports: I like the architecture, and you also have a view of the Rockies in the background. Unfortunately there aren't that many heavies here, although British Airways does fly from London and Lufthansa operates a 747 to/from Frankfurt. United will commence 787 service from Denver to Tokyo on March 31, 2013, which gives DIA its first airport route."

Tour of The Newest Ghost Town: Picher, Oklahoma

Picher is a ghost town and former city in Ottawa County, Oklahoma, United States. Formerly a major national center of lead and zinc mining at the heart of the Tri-State Mining District, over a century of unrestricted subsurface excavation dangerously undermined most of Picher's town buildings and left giant piles of toxic metal-contaminated mine tailings (known as chat) heaped throughout the area.

The discovery of the cave-in risks, groundwater contamination and health effects associated with the chat piles and subsurface shafts—particularly an alarming 1996 study which showed lead poisoning in 34% of the children in Picher —eventually prompted a mandatory evacuation and buyout (via eminent domain) of the entire township by the Environmental Protection Agency and the incorporation of the town (along with the similarly contaminated satellite towns of Treece and Cardin) into the Tar Creek Superfund site. A 2006 Army Corps of Engineers study showed 86% of Picher's buildings (including the town school) were badly undermined and subject to collapse at any time.

A F4 tornado which destroyed or damaged 150 homes in May 2008 accelerated the exodus. The town ceased official operations on September 1, 2009 and the population plummeted from 1,640 at the 2000 census to just 20 at the 2010 census. As of January 2011, only six homes and one business remain, their owners having refused to leave at any price; the rest of the town's buildings (excepting designated historical structures) are scheduled to be demolished by the end of the year. Picher is one of only a few locations in the world (along with others such as Gilman, Colorado and Wittenoom, Western Australia) to be evacuated and declared uninhabitable due to environmental and health damage caused by the mines the town once serviced.

Cheddar Caves in Gorge, Britain

Cheddar is a quaint little town near Bath in England where Cheddar cheese originated. As you enter the town (depending on the direction), you will drive through a valley with high cliffs on both sides - your car will look very intimidated by the huge steep mountains on both sides. It appears that this is the place where Cheddar Cheese first begin. Within the cave are some skeletons (Gough's cave) supposedly to be some ancestral beings of the British. The little town itself is beautiful and there are a lot of curio shops around.

Majestic Versailles Sun King Palace

The Sun King Palace in Versailles, France, is simply beautiful. Its car park is a bit dusty, otherwise a very pleasant place. Now this large magnificent palace is no longer inhabited by the royal descendants but tourists abound. When visiting the place, what is amazing is the collection of art and actual paintings on the roofs all over the palace. There are also several beautiful lampstands.

Chimelong International Circus, Guangzhou

Visit the Chimelong International Circus in Guangzhou.  Guangzhou  is the capital and largest city of the Guangdong province, People's Republic of China.

It is quite convenient to see the Chimelong International Circus. You take the metro train to Chang Long station and from there, a free bus service takes you to the circus. This is one place where animals and humans perform together to make a living, and these performers love their animals. The place is huge and seats about 7,000 people. The ticket is expensive too but it is worth every cent. You may not believe what elephants can do - they are heavy animals and what they do is amazing!

Paradise: Paradiso, Switzerland

Many of us wonder what is Paradise. Lugano, Switzerland is a place they called paradise. We all have imaginations of what paradise is. But Lugano is one place that the people called Paradise.

In Italian, paradiso means paradise, and they named this place here 'Paradiso' which is the municipality of Lugano. Steven Chu explored the beautiful lake besides the road and the houses on the hills beyond, and could understand why they called this place paradise.

Opposite the lake is a beautiful fountain, and it is a quaint little town with a cathedral of Gothic architecture. It is a relaxing exploration, and you can even hire a row boat.

Windsor Castle, England: The Oldest and Largest Inhabited Fort

Beautiful Windsor Castle is one that's still inhabited by the Royal Family of Britain - Queen Elizabeth's home. The easiest way to get to Windsor Castle is by train - you take the train from London City. The castle is huge and beautiful, and thousands of tourists flock to this place to visit it every day. Real soldiers do their routine change over of guards. We are not allowed to take photographs inside the buildings but the outside grounds are OK. Guides are there to explain to visitors on a daily basis, and the manicured gardens are a feast to the eye. The entry price was not cheap, but the visit is worthwhile.

Florence, Italy

Florence is a very beautiful city, with art from the renaissance era drawn on the walls of buildings all over the city. Due to the narrow streets and parking problems, all the cars there are very small and many streets were formerly meant for horse carriages. The cathedrals are particularly beautiful and you can see the saints (12 Disciples of Jesus) being exposed in various art forms. Recommended to visit if you are in Italy.

Paris, France

See the amazing landmarks and hear the sounds of beautiful Paris with tourists who took many photos and videos while on foot and while in a vehicle. It is a large city and it is not possible to see the whole city taking the rail alone. There are many buildings with gothic architecture all around the city, and a number of them are beautifully designed. The fountains are beautiful, and often tells a story of their past history. It is recommended that you hire a car to explore the various parts of Paris, or go on one of those coach tours.

You may not believe it, but Eiffel Tower is an amazingly well and beautifully designed steel structure with lifts that brings you up to have a view overlooking Paris. The base is actually quite large, and if you have time, you get to view it from different angles. Parking is difficult in this area unless you know where to go. It is just amazing how many visitors come to Paris just to have a look at the Eiffel Tower.

Notre Dame Cathedral is beautiful for its intricate Gothic design. It is aesthetically built and decorated with intricate lamp-stands, lighting and exhibits. The building seems to be built to the nearest centimeter in terms of the plaster, intricately molded into shapes and figures. It is definitely worth a visit when in Paris.

Paris is a vibrant city at night, particularly along the areas where the major cabaret shows are performed. The city looks a bit different at night when it is dark, possibly even the people. We explored the 'dark side' of Paris by taking a night walk with our Cosmos tour group and enjoyed a cabaret show.

Virtual Tour of Volendam, Netherlands

Go on a virtual tour of Volendam, Netherlands in this video series. Hear the famous bells and watch mass during October, the month of the Rosary.

The bells of the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in the small fishing village of Volendam toll to call the congregation to prayer. In this case it was evening Mass. The bells can be heard from a good distance away.

Contrary to popular belief, the Catholic Church is alive and well in the Netherlands. In the St. Vincent de Paul Church in Volendam Mass is celebrated on a regular basis. Mass in Dutch is a real treat for those of us who are immigrants to other countries. It reminds us of our youth.

The bells of the St. Vincent de Paul Church (Vincentiuskerk) in Volendam call the faithful to services. These bells are heard all over the older section of town including the famous Volendam Harbour.

Sunday Mass in the St. Vincent de Paul Church in Volendam. This beautifully decorated Church is not only a place of prayer and worship but also a destination for its beautiful interior. Well worth a visit.

The bells of the St. Vincent de Paul (St. Vincentiuskerk) in Volendam toll to call the faithful to church.

The month of October is the month of the Rosary. In the Volendam St. Vincent de Paul Church the Rosary is recited as part of the evening Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. This is followed by the Litany of the Blessed Virgin Mary and Benediction. Great to see this practise in Holland and in Dutch.

Virtual Tour of Lisbon, Portugal

A generous tourist posted this 6-part video tour of Lisbon, the capital of Portugal.

Lisbon, the capital of Portugal lies by the Tagus River on the West coast of Portugal. A very busy, yet intimate city of small streets, shopping districts, monuments and ancient street cars. Staying in the Baixa district, many of the sights are easily accessible on foot. For the sights that are a little farther away, the hop-on hop-off sightseeing bus is an economical option. I was on the yellow bus line but there are a number of bus lines that will get you to all the sights. Tickets can be bought from the driver. My short stay apartment (definitely recommended to anyone visiting Lisbon) was very close to the St. Justa Elevator from where you can see beautiful views of Lisbon.

Portugal, like many large cities, has it's share of street performers or buskers. Here, I caught the climax of one such performance, a man on a unicycle juggling knives.

Lisbon has many parks and squares throughout the city. Some with ornate fountains, other with trees, plants and benches, still others with beautiful statues. The placas in the Baixa district are teaming with people looking for a place to sit and relax or one of the many restaurants for a meal.

Skateboarding is fun all over the world. Here are some would be champion skateboarders practising in one of the squares in Lisbon. They need a little work, but who knows, maybe there is a future champion among them. I hope they'll see themselves in this clip.

When first spotted in the placa do comercio, these well dressed young men and women looked much like a Harry Potter convension, particularly since several were sporting black, round glasses. Hoever, when they moved to the shopping street they laid down a blanket, pulled out instruments and began to give a performance. Don't know where they are from or why they are performing ina street in Lisbon in October but they did provide some great music.

A great way to get around to all the sights in Lisbon is to use one of the hop-on hop-off tour buses. These busses go to all the sights, provide commentary (with earphones you can keep) in multiple languages and the greatest part is, you can get off the bus, visit as long as you like and simply catch the next bus to the next sight. Tickets are good for 24 or 48 hours and are very economical. There a numerous lines also depending on what you want to visit.
